END of first SEM.....

Ahh.....PFEW !!!!

I am tired.... four continuous days of OS prep, supposedly the last exam for the semester... and i am already feeling like an old man (developed STIFF NECK... ) Felt enough of life... OS was my favorite subject in CS... even now.. But i feel id better learn it without any prof intervention. No i dont wanna blame any prof.. But this one i gota say...
Never risk to take grad courses under Indian profs, of course there are exceptions...
Alright, back to square one... FALL sem was more of a test of my analytical abilities... i wasnt sure of my capabilities... so just took some common courses so that i could chill. However the net result wasnt that satisfactory , but still i had a lot of things to talk about my value addition. It wasnt a bed of roses, had to learn things hard way.
1) I was put up in solitude... i didnt get to be the way i had been all these years, socializing with ppl around and chill out. Every body kept minding their own business, nothing wrong though.

Having said about solitude, i would like to say how i tried to manage the pain, I listened to a lot of songs... nothing relieves pain in heart than listening to songs... I have been listening to a lot of songs now a days... Thanks to youtube, Musicindiaonline, last.fm, techsatish.com, filmz.tv .... a lot more actually than this :)
This one song gave me a lot of company.. I wish to sing this one for my friends some day...

2) I learned to analyze my potentials. I got chance to read me. I could see my negatives.. i realized how much wrong i am. I could see a lot of things to improve upon myself.
3) I began to think differently. Nowadays i am questioning my self "Y not this way"(not technical stuffs, but about life and living). It gives me a new dimensions to think.
4) I learned to eat what i cook :P Without complaining :) .... Believe me, all folks in US, i feel u ll agree this point. Cooking is the best stress buster... I am very short tempered. Nowadays, i start cooking when i feel disturbed or feel low. It changes my mood. I feel a lot better after some time.
5) Of all, the best thing i gained here was this one TRUTH :
I learned that i know nothing.
Aaamaa Sanyasi mathri agiten :)

Hurrey ... SEM HOLS... I am off to California for a week time... Gona have fun...

BILLA MOVIE thought me a lesson

Guys,

My lesson for the day. !!!

" Never suggest a movie to your friend without watching it"

If u dont learn it from me, then one day this you ll face the same. I suggested my friend to watch BILLA after getting impressed with the trailer.

Poor friend, aryan(Name concealed for my own good :P) watched it and came back with his red nose blowing like a BULL .... wether he was very polite to me or not is immaterial .. AHEM...

This is what i had to patiently get from him for suggesting...

1) all that he does in the movie is dress up nice and walk up and down
2) man....Billa has got to have some style bandha nill zilch
3) evanukellam nee oru fan
4) mavane...wurst acting by Ajith
5) wurst movie wurst fanclub
6) Ajith' gotto quit acting
7) i guess the new Don has set new limits to remake movies the director must have taken a clue from that

I now get reminded of the comedy scene where Vadivelu and prabhudeva find blood in ear after getting royal treatment from the heroine...

Thanks to Ajith

In the End of Blue era (BLUE - Microsoft)

Microsoft, so called the ruler of late 20th century in OS distributer are now in the phase of down fall(not my statement !!!). Its not going to be so long time to see them accept it them self. But One cold clearly see them venturing into all other fields likes media(ZUNE), games(XBOX), Hardware(Servers, PC Hardwares) realizing their loss. The emergence Linux marked Microsoft's of bad time. Now there could be a lot of Debate over it on various topics like feasibility, Linux acceptability and so on. But thats not my intension to write about.

I dipped into Microsoft website in search of a patch for my device drivers and ended up watching this amazing next generation product which this "Big Badshah"(Miscrosft) is focusing at. I could look back a little bit to late 2006 when i saw Krish(Cast: Hrithik,PRiyanka, Naseeruddin Shah...) and i was at laughter when i saw Naseeruddin Shah using some user interface where he could just operate them with such an ease by just using his finger to choose the snippets in it. I just thought this as a part of Indian movie gimics to portray all unimaginable stuffs. But its not just a year from then i see that such things can actually be expected soon. Yes, Microsoft has made it. Surface computing, seaming to be a very promising venture, is just a eye catcher to me. No more keyboards, no more mouse pads, no more touch pads....Its time we bid adieu to them... Wow...Life has become so easy... It recognizes by touch and even identifies the object placed over the screen. One could make wonders. One will just have to touch the snippets with fingers and then u can feel like the whole world is yours.

Watch what Cnet has to say about this :)
Thanks to avanidhar for the link

Now check out its official Website....

No wonder they advertise it with these three tag lines:
> THE MAGIC
> THE POWER
> THE POSSIBLITIES

Interesting isn't it :)

Opps... I stil didnt figure out the patch ....

SVCE and Deemed Status

On 17 th october i received a mail from SVCE alumni association ...
Dear Alumnus,

Hope you are doing fine.
The latest news from our college is: Dr.R.Ramachandran ( he has been the
HOD of ECE and CSE Departments earlier ) has taken over as our new
Principal suceeding Dr.N.Nithianandam, who has been now deputed as the
Director of Research.
Another good news is that our college is planning to go in for Deemed to
be University status.
We have been affiliated to Madras University and Anna University for
quite a long period of time ( 22 Years) and we have established out
reputation in these Universities.
The Alumni members have been a key factor in building......

I had replied to the sender providing my opinion in it. i wasnt sure if it will be taken wil some importance. So i thought Blogging that same mail might bring out responses from my friends. Here is the content.

I have been a dormant member so far in this Alumni committee. I happened to check this news on SVCE looking for for being Deemed. Although i am happy of the fact that this is a nice attitude for change, however i am worried if SVCE has all the right attributes(as in infrastructure) for availing that status.
  • There were times when me and my friends have talked about this deemed status, we always felt that SVCE has all the necessary and important things set in the right place but for the infrastructure(like, good cafeteria, good seminar hall, good auditorium etc). There may be mixed responses about the attributes i ve quoted, but what is more important is that if it really fit enough to be for a Deemed university.
  • Post my UG at SVCE, I had two years experience at IT industry and then i switched over to academics to pursue my Masters. This new paradigm shift has shown me lot of new things. RESEARCH. Well I must be honest commenting about this. I find that most of the Engg. colleges in INDIA dont really focus on this. I am not specifying any other univs. But i am just talking about the majority of Engg colleges. One must keep US univs (or some other Univ outside india) as reference and then think if we are really into research. Being an SVCEian of the past, i am really more concerned about what SVCE has to say about research I honestly feel there is no such reall research work happening in there, (Guys lemme know if i was ignorant). Occasionally i see students publishing papers in tech symposiums(But this alone cannot contribute to research). RESEARCH will be one of those important consideration for any DEEMED University which SVCE might be at threat if they apply for it.
I am not here to critique about my own institution. Rather i am very much concerned about it facing some potential threats. I was just wondering if intention of SVCE thinking about DEEMED status can still be satisfied by different way. It can look forward to be Autonomous instead. One good example of PSG TECH coimbatore.

Guys What say ?
